HEY I HAVE SOME GREAT NEWS!

i have found one of my old jw friends from when i was a teenager.

i discovered her on myspace and wrote her message and it turns out that she is out of the religion and doing well.

this is the first time i have met one of my friends from my inner circle who has left the jw religion...i'm so excited!

Anyone ever just picked up and moved far away

has anyone here ever just gotten so sick of it all that they just packed up their belongings and pets and left?.

did you know people in the place that you went to?

how did you find work?.

Thanks everyone. I am always blown away by the courage and the creativity that each of you possess. Lately the really bad economy in this area has been weighing heavily on myself and my husband. I have realized for many years that this whole community and many of the surrounding ones have horrible economies but the other morning I was walking through the living room and my hubby had Imus in the AM on the tv. There was a NYC reporter that was talking about Vt. He said that he had to come here on assignment and took an exit that brought him through a town called Hardwick ( about 30 miles from where I now live... where I was born and brought up) he went on to describe it as abject poverty and a northern version of the Appalachias. Although I always knew this to be true hearing it on tv certainly made everything more real.

People can for 10 - 15 years at the same job and still make only 12.00 - 15.00 an hour and be pleased as it puts them at a level to pay bills etc.

For me, hearing that man say this was the frosting on the cake. I love my land but the financial cap imposed by the communities poverty is devastating and keeps all of us from following any great dreams of financial freedom.

Several respondents stated that they found work on the net... was that finding employment by looking at ads or was anyone able to work from home using the net.

I too am a self imposed hermit. Kinda looking at the rest of the world through a window and a computer monitor. I feel as though there are so many fissures within me that one more blow would just shatter my whole being.

As time passes I will get stronger I am certain.

why do so many of us show such antagonism towards jw who post here?

we know they won't listen.

we know how it feels to have religion forced upon us.

As usual Lady Lee you have given us cause for thought.

I must admit that I have never really felt any of that anger that some have after their postings. Even when angry or disguted about life I have really been bouyed by the people here both on the board and through pms. However, I see what you are refering to and agree completely.

JWs are warned that apostates are always negative and angry because they are now so unhappy so your point is well taken.

deceased relatives and visiting in dreams

my grandmother passed away in december of this past year.

she believed that all religions were full of false teachings, therefor at times turning to supernatural beliefs.

she believed in ghosts, life after death, etc... anywho, i had a dream a couple weeks ago, very vivid, and we were riding in an old truck down a dirt road with corn growing on both sides.

Has anyone ever asked the 'visiting party' what they are experiencing on the other side? I am serious. This would be very interesting esp. if several were asked and we could compare the answers.
